Hazards

Overview

Hazards are reported based on

• an area (where the hazard is physically located)
• the nature of the hazard. The nature of the hazard is, in turn broken down into
  • the class of hazard and
  • the specific item within that class.

When setting up the system the administrators need to load a default set of areas, classes and items.

Examples of areas could include General Aviation area taxiways, General Aviation run-up area, FACT taxiways, FACT main parking aprons, FACT Special Rules Area East : FASH, etc.

Examples of classes could include Bird Activity, Communication System, Fuel Operations, Foreign Object Debris (FOD), Flammable substances/objects, Ground manoeuvring, etc.

Examples of items within the class Ground Manoeuvring could include Confined space, Obstacles at ground level, Close proximity of other aircraft, Effects of wind, Jet blast, etc.

Reporting Hazards

Hazards are reported by filling the the form accessible from the main menu. When reporting a hazard, the pilot is required to select an area, and to then indicate the class of hazard. Once the class is selected, the system will offer a list of items from within that class. The pilot must select the item and then provide any associated description for the hazard.

Responding to Hazards

From the administrator screens one can list all of the reported hazards in the system. From here the administrator is able to log additional details about the hazard in question and to indicate what has been done to mitigate against the hazard.
